Video: Florence and the Machine Perform on ‘GMA’ After Vocal Injury

After a brief break following a vocal injury, Florence Welch shows off her recovered pipes in a performance on ‘Good Morning America’.

Florence Welch along with the rest of Florence and the Machine performed live on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, July 18. The performance happened after the frontwoman recovered from a recent vocal injury that forced them to cancel two performances in Europe.

The group appeared on the morning show to promote their new single “Spectrum” which is currently the top song in the United Kingdom. “I’m good, yeah. It still works apparently,” the British singer joked about her current condition before performing with her seven-piece band.

Florence also stated, “I was singing and it’s never really happened to me before and I felt something, I actually felt it.” She added, “I lost about three octaves and I had to sing really low just trying to get through the show, but that was an interesting experiment in itself.” She understood that if she didn’t cancel the gig, she could have caused permanent damage on her vocal chords.

The band are about to embark on a North American tour and the vocalist stated that allowing her vocal chords to recuperate was essential “so that we could do this tour and do it in the best health.” The band will begin their tour on Friday, July 20, in British Columbia.
